My man

It has been a little hectic around here! It's definitely an adjustment having two kids, but so much fun! I have been stressed though with Abigail not sleeping really well lately. She was doing so well for a little bit, but just recently has been up most of the night which means I am up with her. It can be frustrating to me, especially because I know that I will have to somehow find the energy to keep up with and play with Avery during the day and get things around the house done that I need to. Through all this Adam has been there for me 100%. I try to get up with Abby during the week while he takes the weekends, but he will step in during the night when I need him. I can be stubborn though, but he persists so I can catch up on some sleep. When he gets home, he lets me sleep some more and he has made dinner for us a lot recently. He is such a great daddy and such an amazing husband! I really am so lucky to have him! Plus a little shout out to him since he just got a promotion at work! He no longer has a cubicle but has an office now! Congratulations babe! I love you so much!!

 Looking so professional ;)

Birth Story

We welcomed Abigail Elizabeth on May 23rd! We are so excited to finally have her with us. Let me tell you though, two kids is definitely different than having one! I am way more tired!! I was able to take a nap with Avery when ever she did, but now when Abigail sleeps and Avery is waiting there ready to play :) It's been an adjustment and it's ongoing. Thankfully though family has been here since the beginning to help out! Abigail was born on the 23rd but we actually scheduled an induction for the 30th so she arrived one week early. Still an induction. I woke up on the 22nd with UNBEARABLE itching all over my body. The itching had been going on for about a week and was steadily getting worse especially at night. So there were a lot of nights where I wouldn't go to bed till 5:00a.m. waiting to get so tired that the itching was for the most part in the background. So when I woke up on the 22nd I called my doctor who had recently order some blood work on me earlier that week and confirmed that the itching was due to a liver disease that only manifests during pregnancy called Cholestasis. I would say it's more annoying to the mom and more potentially harmful to the baby. With this knowledge we decided to induce the next day. Adam and I arrived at the hospital at 5:00a.m. and played the waiting game. My progression was REALLY slow, which is odd because Avery was REALLY fast. At full dilation and 95% effacement which was about 5:00p.m. by this point we started to push to see if anymore progress could be made. After a few hours of pushing on and off, Abigail was now at a transverse position and I was EXHAUSTED! At around 8:00p.m. we decided on a C-section. And at that point I was really happy to do anything to get Abigail here! We waited for about 45 minutes for the operating room to be prepped at which time they put me back on my epidural medicine. They had taken me off to see if I could push better previously. So I'm on the operating table almost passed out because I am so tired and they start pinching my legs and asking me if I could feel any of it. I'm so tired I say "no, I'm good" and they believe to have the right dosage of meds in me. I won't go into detail at this point but if you have ever had a Cesarian you are supposed to feel pressure and nothing else. I felt pressure at the beginning and a whole lot more something near the end. They ended up knocking me out with some quick working medication at that point which is why our first picture with Adam, Abby, and I I'm out cold :)  I would say considering my last delivery this one went by REALLY well! I'm so happy for both of our healthy and happy girls!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I'm so thankful for my own Mom and everything that she has done for me and has taught me! I love her so much! And I'm so thankful for my Mother in law! She is so sweet and so willing to help out! I'm surrounded by some pretty amazing women who are such good examples and teach me so much! I loved today!
Adam is pretty much the greatest husband ever and made this day very special for me. He made breakfast and and grilled a great steak for dinner and surprised me with roses and some super cute shoes and helped Avery make a very sweet picture collage. And Avery is such a sweetie pie! I'm so blessed to be home with her everyday. She teaches me so much and I'm so blessed to be called her mother. What a wonderful calling!

Fishies and snow cones

Yet another Saturday under our belt. We went to the Aquarium today! We were supposed to go last weekend, but you really have to pick and choose good traffic days in Houston. Last weekend was rainy and the highways were packed. Today was perfect though! Anyway, Avery LOVES "ishies" and it's so fun watching her get so excited to see them and point and stare. This age really is fun! She is into so much and it's so great to watch her grow :) We had her in the stroller in the beginning, but that didn't last long, so we put her in her monkey leash... I didn't think I would ever be one of the parents to put their kids on a leash, but man! Some kids stay with their parents and then there is Avery who can get SO excited she wants to be everywhere at once and next thing you know she's gone. The leash was a good investment (I hate the word leash bleh!) and an added bonus is that she loves it. She even likes to where it around the house. After we were done in the aquarium we of course walk outside and what do you know, a splash pad. I feel like these things are everywhere here. It's not a bad thing especially in the Texas Summer, but we didn't have a change of clothes for Avery. She saw it though...and it was hot outside... so we took her undershirt off and let her go at it. The majority of my posts during the Summer will probably contain her in some type of water environment. She LOVES the water. So home we went, got her changed and then it was snow cone time. Per my request. What can I say, I'm pregnant :) plus they are just SO good! Happy Saturday!

Weekends

I look forward to the weekend every Monday :) I just love how much fun we have as a family! We begin by staying up later than normal on Friday, but not too late because Adam plays basketball with the guys at the church... he gets up at 5:30! I don't know how he does it. When he comes home though he let's me sleep in and then makes our traditional big Saturday morning breakfast. It's "his" thing and he loves it. He makes bacon, eggs, pancakes, and fruit. Did I mention he does this while having Avery up? Usually we have something planned in the afternoon and evening. Mid-morning is reserved for chores... that one is my idea :) This Saturday Adam and I were lucky enough to go out on a date (thanks Mariah!) And Sundays are always nice and easy. Then BOOM! MONDAY! It all happens too fast. Here are a few picks from this past weekend.

Avery Turns Two!

I can't believe my little Avery has turned two! Time flies by so fast and soon we will have another one and Avery will no longer be "the baby"! I love my little curly top and I wanted today to be a special day, even though it was I'm sure ordinary to her. We spent the morning watching Sesame Street, nothing different about that, but if we don't I'm pretty sure Avery's day would be completely off. I snapped a pic of her watching tv and eating her strawberries, which she LOVES! We pretty much spent the rest of the morning getting ready to see Daddy for lunch at Chipotle, which she also loves. I'm telling you Avery is awesome, I mean come on she loves Chipotle! Lunch was fun, as it always is when we get to see Adam. It was pretty much playing around when we got home and we just waited for Adam to get off work. We didn't plan a huge bash for her birthday this year. We actually thought it was going to be just the three of us till we heard my Dad was in town visiting my grandma and Alex (my brother) happened to be in town as well. So all five of us had a quiet little party for Avery. She loved her gifts and loved eating her cupcakes! I'm pretty sure though her favorite part was popping the bubbles outside and swinging on the swing set. I love my little girl! Happy Birthday Avery!

A little bit about Avery now that she is the big T-W-O. Well she is a COMPLETE daddy's girl! I pretty much don't stand a chance when Adam is in the room :) It melts my heart seeing the two of them together though, so I am completely okay with it. In fact when Adam gets home from work she runs to him and hugs him and showers him with kisses. SO CUTE! They wrestle on the couch and the floor while I cook dinner and I love hearing the two of them together when I am in the kitchen. Avery is so sweet and sensitive. She cuddles her stuffed animals and gives them kisses all the time. Don't worry I get kisses too :) and she loves to hug and just be where everyone else is. This girl is also an excellent sleeper. She wakes up at 7:00 and takes and nap at 12:00 and goes to bed at 7:00 like clock work. It's pretty awesome. She loves bath time, especially the bubbles and bath crayons. Which leads me to think that at the moment her favorite color is green because that's pretty much the only color she has continued using. She loves falling asleep with pretty much all of her stuffed animals in her crib, so it has become part of mine and Adam's night to take pretty much take all of them out when we check on her before we go to bed. She knows a ton of words, but she doesn't always like to use them, especially when it comes to animals. She would definitely just rather make the noise that animal makes. She's an excellent eater and will pretty much eat anything we put in front of her for. And she LOVES spicy food. It's crazy. If we let her she would eat salsa and guacamole by the spoon full. She loves getting her nails painted by me and when I get ready she mimics me a lot of the time. A total girly girl. She loves her jewelry and she loves her shoes. I love her so much! I am so blessed to be her mother!
